The parking sensor is a device that aids in parking and reversing a vehicle. It operates on the sonar principle—it emits ultrasonic waves that, when reflected from an obstacle, allow the vehicle to determine the distance between itself and the obstacle. When reversing, the device accurately identifies obstacles in the vehicle's path and warns the driver with an audible signal (depending on the distance from the obstacle) or via an LED display.
