The 70-180mm F2.8 G2 marks a further evolution of the first-generation model, which has gained wide acclaim in the market, and incorporates several improvements. The first improvement in the new G2 lens is TAMRON's patented VC (Vibration Compensation) system. The lens maintains its class-leading compact size and weight while allowing for greater stability in shooting. The optical design has been updated from the first-generation 70-180mm F2.8, achieving an impeccable level of high image quality throughout the zoom range. TAMRON has also shortened the MOD (Minimum Object Distance) at the wide end to 0.3m (11.8in), compared to 0.85m (33.5in) in the first generation, allowing users to enjoy the unique photographic expressions inherent to this lens. In addition, the new 70-180mm F2.8 G2 zoom lens features TAMRON's renowned VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism, enabling fast and precise autofocus that works well for both stills and video. The new 70-180mm F2.8 G2 zoom lens also supports TAMRON's specially developed TAMRON Lens Utility and TAMRON Lens Utility Mobile apps. These software can be used to customize functions to suit various shooting styles for both stills and video. The new lens design improves handling and provides scratch resistance. This single lens combines the deep maneuverability and practicality worthy of the second-generation G2 brand, and delivers a shooting experience that will make fast-aperture telephoto lenses even more enjoyable.
