The 70-180mm F2.8 G2 marks the further evolution of the first-generation model, which has gained great recognition in the market, and includes several improvements. The first improvement in the new G2 lens is the TAMRON's patented VC (Vibration Compensation) system. The lens maintains its class-leading compact size and weight, while allowing for shooting with greater stability.
The optical design has been updated from the first-generation 70-180mm F2.8 and achieves an impeccable level of high image quality throughout the entire zoom range. The TAMRON also shortened the MOD (Minimum Object Distance) on the wide side to 0.3m (11.8in) compared to the first-generation 0.85m (33.5in), allowing users to enjoy the unique photographic expressions inherent to this lens. In addition, the new 70-180mm F2.8 G2 zoom lens features TAMRON's famous VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism, enabling fast and accurate autofocus that works well for both stills and video shooting. The new 70-180mm F2.8 G2 zoom lens also supports the TAMRON specially developed TAMRON Lens Utility and TAMRON Lens Utility Mobile apps. This software can be used to customize functions to suit various shooting styles for both stills and videos. The new lens design improves handling and provides scratch resistance. This single lens combines the deep maneuverability and practicality worthy of the second-generation G2 brand, and will provide a shooting experience that will make fast aperture telephoto lenses even more enjoyable.
