Up to 8x more powerful 5 'BIONZ XRTM' image processor

In addition to the new sensor and its speed, a new 'BIONZ XR' image processing engine has also been developed, boasting up to 8x more processing power.5 The processor, with its future-oriented architecture, produces high-quality photos and videos faster for unparalleled creative expression, and the camera interface speed has been significantly improved.

Stunning AF performance even when shooting 4K 120p2

The new Exmor R full-frame image sensor and innovative BIONZ XR image processing engine deliver continuous AF for stunning spatial and temporal detail and stunning 4K movies at up to 120 frames per second2 or slow motion. The results are incredible with the resolution and depth of field that only a full-frame sensor can deliver.

10-bit 4:2:2 recording

Record directly into the camera with incredible 10-bit depth and 4:2:2 color sampling, which provides significantly greater flexibility for image grading, processing, and compositing.

All-Intra encoding

The series' inherent sensitivity has been further enhanced with an expanded ISO range for movies of 80-409600 (standard range 80-102400). With advanced light collection and output optimization, the 12.1-megapixel3 full-frame sensor boasts low noise throughout the sensitivity range and can capture visible images in the dark.
