The newly developed 24.2-megapixel5 'Exmor R™' CMOS sensor, now with a back-illuminated structure, is combined with the latest BIONZ X™ image processing engine and front-end LSI. This combination achieves twice the data readout speed6 and 1.8 times the data processing capacity6.

The camera's 35mm full-frame CMOS image sensor with a back-illuminated structure increases light collection efficiency, expands the scale of the electrical circuit, and uses a copper wiring layer to transmit output data at a very high speed while reducing noise to ensure every detail is captured in every image.

The standard ISO range has been extended to ISO 100-51,200 (expandable to ISO 50-204 when shooting 8007), and features detail recovery and area-specific noise reduction technologies. Thanks to its high performance in the mid-to-high sensitivity range, you can shoot at high ISO without worrying about noise and image degradation.
