Next-generation 8K19 30p recording
The α1's new image sensor and BIONZ XR processor enable realistic 8K (7680 × 4320) 30p recording. Four times the resolution of 4K with Real-time Tracking and Real-Time Eye AF. 8K footage is also ideal for flexible 4K editing.
4K movies shot at a high frame rate of 120 fps20
The α1 supports internal 4K movie recording at high frame rates of up to 120 fps and enables smooth, expressive playback in up to 5x slow motion21. 10-bit 4:2:2 Chroma subsampling encoding technology can be used with Long-GOP or Intra (All-I)22 image compression for exceptional image quality, while the new image sensor and BIONZ XR processor reduce image distortion.
4K with full pixel scanning, no quantization and 5.8K oversampling
When using Super 35 mode, approx. 2.3x. The data required for QFHD 4K quality is obtained using full-frame scanning without quantization, so images are beautiful and rich in detail.

The 9.44 million-dot (approx.) OLED viewfinder in the α1 is currently the highest resolution on the market27. It features 0.90x magnification28 with a 41° field of view (FOV) for a clear, wide view and an updated design with a 25mm-high eyepiece29. 240 fps refresh rate with UXGA FOV - another innovation27 for clear, fast imaging.
Panoramic shots with electronic shutter30
Using the electronic shutter at slow speeds can cause screen response to be impaired, making it difficult to track fast-moving subjects. To improve screen response and shoot panoramic shots, enable the [Low Frame Rate Limit] function.
Seamlessly switch between full-frame and APS-C formats
M and S size images31 have the same pixel count and AF area in full-frame and APS-C modes, so you can seamlessly switch between full-frame [M:21MP] and APS-C [M:21MP] formats when shooting the same scene.
