Nikon Z6 II, (Z6II), (Z 6 II), (Z 6II) + NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S + FTZ II Mount adapter

More speed, more versatility, more performance - Nikon Z 6II is an updated version of the all-round near-mirror camera for high-end photography and video applications. Despite the many updates, the Z 6II retains a familiar design and valuable image quality, useful for working multimedia image creators.

Based on a 24.5MP BSI CMOS sensor and two EXPEED 6 image processors, the Z 6II features an increased buffer depth and faster continuous shooting speed, up to 14 fps with single-point AF or 12 fps in other focus modes. Video recording is possible in UHD 4K 30p resolution, or up to FHD 120p for slow-motion footage, while external recording provides 10-bit output along with N-Log and HLG (HDR) support. The sensor is also suitable for working in a wide range of lighting conditions, with sensitivities from ISO 100 to 51200, and internal 5-axis vibration reduction reduces the effects of camera shake, allowing for sharper handheld shooting. Additionally, the sensor features a 273-point phase-detection AF system that now supports Eye-Detect AF in wide-area AF modes and during movie shooting, as well as enabling focusing in low-light conditions down to -4.5 EV.

While maintaining image quality, the Z 6II retains the overall physical design, but has been updated with a new dual memory card slot to accommodate one CFexpress Type B card and one SD UHS-II card, providing more flexibility in storage options. Both a high-resolution 3.6m dot OLED EVF and a 3.2" 2.1m dot tilting touchscreen LCD provide versatility for image composition and playback, while SnapBridge wireless connectivity can be used for remote camera control, image sharing with a mobile device, and even over-the-air software updates.

Software version 1.10 opens up UHD 4K recording at 60p and 50p frame rates, enables raw video output to Blackmagic Design Video Assist external recorders, and improves eye detection performance in Auto-Area AF and Wide-Area AF modes.

Second generation Z

After refining its initial attempts, Nikon revised the Z 6 platform to offer more speed, faster processing, and greater versatility without sacrificing the beloved features of the original camera.

  • Dual EXPEED 6 image processors offer increased buffer performance, a faster 14fps continuous shooting speed, and noticeably reduced blackouts in the viewfinder.

  • Updated autofocus now includes eye and face detection for both people and animals in wide-area AF mode, both for stills and video.

  • Time-lapse photography is now possible for up to 900 seconds (15 minutes) without an external remote control.

  • Dual memory card slots offer more flexibility in file storage options; one CFexpress Type B and one SD UHS-II slot allow for overflow, separate, and repeat storage.

  • The USB Type-C port allows you to charge the camera or provide continuous power for on-the-go charging or long-term shooting.

  • The direction of rotation of the lens focus ring can be changed to suit personal convenience.

  • Support for HDR (HLG) mode during external recording provides instant HDR-capable video files for immediate playback. N-Log is also available for greater control during post-processing and color correction.

  • A future software update will add UHD 4K 60p recording, in addition to the existing 30p frame rate.

  • An optional ProRes RAW upgrade is available, allowing the camera to output ProRes RAW footage to a compatible Atomos external recorder. This upgrade provides greater color correction flexibility with the ProRes codec, as well as the ability to output uncompressed 12-bit raw footage via HDMI. This upgrade will be available in early 2021.

  • SnapBridge wireless connectivity can be used to update camera software, instead of relying on a memory card-based update system.

Updated creative shooting modes include multiple exposure, 20 different Picture Controls, and time-lapse video recording. There's also a focus shift mode that lets you record up to 300 consecutive shots while changing the focus position between exposures, for focus-stacking applications.

Compatible with optional MB-N11 power battery pack for extended battery life and improved control.

24.5MP FX-format BSI CMOS sensor and dual EXPEED 6 processors

24.5MP The BSI CMOS sensor is used for full-frame shooting, impressive low-light performance, and fast scan speeds to enable continuous shooting, movies, and time-lapse recording. The sensor's back-illumination delivers noticeably clean high-sensitivity output with reduced noise at high ISOs, up to a native ISO 51200, as well as bright, smooth quality at sensitivities as low as ISO 100. The sensor is aided by dual EXPEED 6 image processors that deliver high speed throughout the camera system, including the ability to shoot continuously at 14 frames per second for up to 124 continuous shots.
