As a network administrator, you never know when the next storm, lightning, flood, heat wave, or power outage will strike. But with the right tools, you can protect your network from many problems! Here's our wish list for the perfect tool:
By adding an IP66 waterproof housing to the RB5009 series, we have managed to meet all the requirements! The new RB5009UPr+S+OUT is a compact, cost-effective solution that will revolutionize your network tower installations. You get one of the most powerful outdoor network devices at the best price on the market!
Like the internal version, this RB5009 has 7x Gigabit Ethernet ports, one 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port, a 10G SFP+ slot, and a full-size USB3 port!
When we say 'unique power redundancy', we really mean it: the device offers 9 possible power sources. There is a 2-pin connector on the front, as well as PoE-in and PoE-out on all eight Ethernet ports. The device can use any of these sources, choosing the one with the highest voltage when multiple sources are available. The RB5009 consumes up to 21W to charge. If you use PoE-in, the device will work even if 8 of the 9 power sources suddenly fail. Unparalleled redundancy!
All power supplies support a wide voltage range from 24 to 57 V. However, you cannot mix voltages.
Each PoE-out port can supply up to 25W of power. All ports together are limited to 130W, which should be sufficient for most devices. (Note that the included PSU can supply 96W of power, so you will need another PSU to achieve maximum power.) If you are using PoE-out to power other devices, you will need to supply power through the 2-pin connector to power them.
This product also has a single voltage PoE-out function - it can be 802.3at/af compliant or low voltage PoE-out. It depends on the voltage at the 2-pin connector, as there is no voltage conversion in this device.
In terms of processing power and possible use cases, this router can do anything: PPPoE termination, DHCP for clients, local queue management, MPLS push/remove/change and MPLS routing, VPLS/VXLAN termination, hardware bridging, and more!
The RB5009 series continues to rewrite the standards for a reliable and affordable network solution for small, medium, and even large ISPs!
