Olympus OM SYSTEM OM-1 + M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-100mm F4 IS PRO
The adventurer's flagship
At the crossroads of image quality, portability, speed and reliability, the OM-1 from OM SYSTEM is a flagship mirrorless camera built for adventure. Featuring the versatile Micro Four Thirds platform, the OM-1 delivers fast and agile stills performance and capable 4K video recording with unique computer-aided imaging tools and a rugged, reliable physical design.
20 MP stacked sensor and TruePic X.
Micro Four Thirds BSI Live MOS sensor
The newly developed 20.4MP Micro Four Thirds Live MOS sensor features a BSI design that improves readout speed, noise performance, and higher dynamic range than previous designs. This sensor structure improves noise performance by two stops and dynamic range by one stop to improve image quality, especially at higher ISOs.
TruePic X processor
Compared to previous generation processors, TruePic X offers 3x faster processing speed and a 120fps sensor scan rate for faster and more sensitive shooting. The processor also contributes to a wide ISO range and fast continuous shooting rate:
Native sensitivity range from ISO 200 to 102,400, expandable to ISO 80.
Continuous shooting at up to 10 frames per second with full-time AF/AE and a 169-frame raw buffer when using the mechanical shutter.
If you're working with the silent electronic shutter, it's possible to shoot at 20fps with full-time AF/AE and a 108-frame buffer of raw shots. SH1 and SH2 are blackout-free high-speed shooting modes, offering up to 120fps without AF/AE in SH1 and 50fps with AF/AE in SH2.
Pro Capture mode starts recording before the shutter is released; available at 120fps with fixed focus or 50fps with continuous AF, this mode starts recording when the shutter button is pressed halfway and then stops when the button is pressed all the way down. This mode can record up to 70 additional frames, providing protection when action occurs just before the shutter button is pressed.
Cross Quad Pixel AF and AI detection
Uniquely designed, on-sensor phase-detection AF uses a four-pixel cross-type system that effectively divides each pixel into four sub-pixels to enable the cross-type sensor to perform and focus better in challenging lighting conditions. The focusing system has 1,053 individual points that completely cover the sensor and operates at speeds of up to 120fps to suit almost any shooting style.
With the Cross Quad Pixel AF structure, color and contrast information from the sensor can also be used to create a detailed depth map for more accurate subject detection and tracking. Using AI, this focus system can automatically detect a variety of subject types, such as cars, motorcycles, airplanes, helicopters, trains, birds, dogs, cats, and people, as well as faces and eyes. And compared to previous generations of this focus system, improved processing now focuses 2x more accurately and 3x faster.
Image stabilization and computer photography
5-axis image stabilization
In-body 5-axis image stabilization compensates for up to 8 stops of camera shake, allowing for significantly slower shutter speeds when shooting handheld. This advanced sensor-shift system compensates for up to 7 stops of camera shake in the body alone, with an additional stop when certain IS-enabled lenses are attached.
Handheld Assist relies on this stabilization technology to provide steadier framing, which is especially useful when working with longer focal length lenses. The additional in-body image stabilization also contributes to a variety of additional shooting modes and camera features, including high-resolution shooting modes, Handheld Live Composite, and an advanced dust reduction system.
Creative shooting modes
High-resolution frame– taking advantage of the composite sensor design, processing power and image stabilization system, this mode combines a burst of 12 shots into a single higher resolution shot in just 5 seconds. Tripod High Resolution Shooting mode creates an 80MP raw file, while Handheld High Resolution Shooting mode creates a 50MP raw file, and both modes offer up to 2 stops of noise reduction and improved color detail.
Live ND– Now supporting up to ND64 (6 stops), this unique feature digitally simulates the effects of optics. Neutral Density Filter for creating long exposure/slow shutter speed effects.
Live Composite– perfect for long exposures, night photography and light painting. This unique mode gradually builds exposure over time without overexposing key elements of the frame. This mode allows you to record only newly detected light sources over time and allows you to watch the live view as the image develops. A Handheld Live Composite mode is also available.
Focus Stacking– this mode automatically records 15 consecutive frames, shifting the focal plane slightly between each frame, then combines these exposures into a single image with a greater depth of field.
DCI/UHD 4K video recording
DCI/UHD 4K video recording is supported at up to 60p and 10-bit 4:2:0 sampling. Full HD recording is possible at high speeds of up to 240 frames per second for slow-motion playback.
12-bit raw output is supported via the micro-HDMI port when working with an optional compatible external recorder, such as the Atomos Ninja V or Ninja V+.
The HLG video mode allows for in-camera HDR recording, while the OM-Log gamma allows for increased color range when adjusting footage in post-production.
The camera can record time-lapse videos up to UHD 4K at frame rates from 5 to 30 frames per second.
Both 3.5mm microphone and headphone ports provide better control and quality for audio recording.
Reliable, adventure-ready design
EVF and LCD
The electronic viewfinder features a 5.76m-dot OLED panel that provides a bright and clear eye-level viewfinder. The viewfinder has 0.83x magnification, a 21mm eye point, and a 120fps refresh rate for realistic motion rendering.
The 3.0-inch 1.62m-dot LCD touchscreen features a vari-angle design with 270° rotation to suit working from high, low and forward-facing angles.
Durable, weather-resistant construction
The lightweight, durable magnesium alloy body design is dust and splash resistant, with an IP53 rating to ensure use in challenging weather conditions.
The sturdy construction is also frost-resistant for reliable use in temperatures down to 14°F.
Durable lock design is designed for 400,000 lock clicks.
Practical and intuitive control
Using the new BLX-1 battery, the OM-1 can take 520 shots on a single charge. The body battery can be charged via the USB Type-C port, and the camera itself can also be powered using a USB-connected power supply.
Two UHS-II SD memory card slots for flexible file storage, including backing up to the camera, splitting file types, or simply having extra memory for overflow.
The updated menu configuration makes it easier to find different settings, confirm setting selections, and understand why grayed-out items cannot be selected.
Separate AEL and AF-ON buttons allow for easier and more direct control of various functions. Both buttons can also be customized to adjust different parameters.
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (5 and 2.4 GHz) allow wireless file transfer and remote camera control via the OI.Share app for mobile devices.
