Nikon Z6 II, (Z6II), (Z 6 II), (Z 6II) + NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S + FTZ II Mount adapter

More speed, more versatility, more performance -Nikon Z6IIis an updated version of the all-round mirrorless camera designed for high-end stills and video production. Despite the many updates, the Z 6II retains a familiar form factor and valuable image quality, useful for working multi-channel video creators.

Powered by a 24.5MP BSI CMOS sensor and dual EXPEED 6 image processors, the Z 6II boasts a larger buffer depth and faster continuous shooting speeds, up to 14fps with single-point AF or 12fps in other focus modes. Video recording is possible in UHD 4K 30p or up to FHD 120p slow-motion output, while the external recording option offers 10-bit output along with N-Log and HLG (HDR) support. The sensor is also suitable for working in a wide range of lighting conditions, with sensitivities from ISO 100 to 51200, and 5-axis image stabilization reduces the effects of camera shake, allowing for sharper handheld shooting. In addition, the sensor also features a 273-point phase-detection AF system that now supports Eye-Detect AF in wide-area AF modes and during video recording, and allows focusing in low-light conditions down to -4.5 EV.

Balancing image quality, the Z 6II retains the overall physical design but has been updated with a new dual memory card slot interface that allows for one CFexpress Type B card and one SD UHS-II card for more flexible storage. Both the high-resolution 3.6 million-dot OLED EVF and rear 3.2-inch 2.1 million-dot tilting touchscreen LCD provide versatility for image composition and review, while SnapBridge wireless connectivity can be used for remote camera control, image sharing with a mobile device, and even over-the-air software updates.

Software version 1.10 opens up UHD 4K recording at 60p and 50p frame rates, enables raw video output to Blackmagic Design Video Assist external recorders, and improves eye detection performance in Auto-Area AF and Wide-Area AF modes.

Second Generation Z

Improving on its initial efforts, Nikon has revised the Z 6 platform to offer more speed, faster processing, and greater versatility without sacrificing the beloved features of the original camera.

  • Dual EXPEED 6 image processors offer increased buffer performance, a faster 14fps continuous shooting speed, and noticeably reduced black screen times in the viewfinder.

  • Updated autofocus now includes eye and face detection for both people and animals in wide-area AF modes, for both stills and video recording.

  • It is now possible to shoot long exposures of up to 900 seconds (15 minutes) without an external remote control.

  • Dual memory card slots offer more flexible file storage options; one CFexpress Type B and one SD UHS-II slot allow for overflow, separate and repeated saving.

  • The USB Type-C port allows you to charge the camera or provide continuous power for on-the-go charging or long-term shooting.

  • The rotation direction of the lens focus ring can be changed to suit the user's habits.

  • Support for HDR (HLG) mode during external recording provides instant HDR-capable video files for immediate viewing. N-Log is also available for greater control in post-production and color correction.

  • A future software update will add UHD 4K 60p recording, in addition to the existing 30p frame rate.

An optional ProRes RAW upgrade is available, allowing the camera to output ProRes RAW footage to a compatible Atomos external recorder. This upgrade provides greater color correction flexibility with the ProRes codec, as well as the ability to output uncompressed 12-bit raw footage via HDMI. This upgrade will be available in early 2021.

SnapBridge wireless connectivity can be used to update camera software, instead of relying on a memory card-based update system.

Updated creative shooting modes include Multiple Exposure, 20 different Picture Control settings, and in-camera Timelapse. There's also a Focus Shift mode for recording up to 300 consecutive shots, shifting the focus position between exposures for focus bracketing applications.

Compatible with the optional MB-N11 power battery pack for additional battery life and more convenient operation.

24.5MP FX-format BSI CMOS sensor and dual EXPEED 6 processors

A 24.5MP BSI CMOS sensor is used for full-frame shooting, impressive low-light performance, and fast readout speeds to enable continuous shooting, movies, and time-lapse recording. The sensor's backside illumination delivers noticeably clean high-sensitivity output, with reduced noise at high ISOs, up to a native ISO 51200, as well as bright, smooth quality at sensitivities down to ISO 100. The sensor is assisted by dual EXPEED 6 image processors, which deliver high speed throughout the camera system, including the ability to shoot continuously at 14 frames per second for up to 124 continuous shots.
