This COOLPIX camera has a focal range of 24-2000mm, so you can capture the most important parts of every scene. Shoot wide-angle shots to capture the power of a storm with a thunderstorm raging over the ocean. Zoom in to capture sharp, focused images of distant wildlife. With the 166x 'Dynamic Fine Zoom', the maximum zoom is digitally extended to 4000mm¹.

Thanks to a back-illuminated CMOS sensor and a bright NIKKOR lens with a maximum aperture of f/2.8, you get great results from dusk to dawn. Nikon's EXPEED image processing system and Super ED glass reduce distortion at high zoom levels. WINDOW TO THE WORLD

The large 1cm 2 359k-dot OLED electronic viewfinder provides a clear view. An eye sensor automatically switches from live view shooting to viewfinder shooting as soon as you bring the camera close to your face.

TRY ALL VIEW ANGLES

Compose great shots using the bright 8.1cm 921k-dot LCD screen, which can be tilted and rotated in almost any direction. It's easy to frame images whether you're holding the camera high or low.

CAPTURING IMAGES IN RAW FORMAT

Edit with high-quality files. The COOLPIX P950 can capture images in RAW (NRW) format, allowing you to save and export uncompressed image files to your preferred processing and editing application.

Stunning 4K movies with super-efficient zoom

Easily record 4K/UHD 30p footage with stereo sound or Full HD (1080p) movies at up to 60p frame rates. High-quality HDMI output allows you to play back videos on an external monitor while recording. A built-in microphone jack allows you to use an external microphone for better sound quality. Movie Manual mode allows you to adjust key exposure settings while filming - useful in changing lighting conditions.

Star trails and the dawning sky

The camera’s built-in time-lapse movie function is perfect for capturing the sky, star trails or plants in a forest clearing. You can record captivating time-lapse movies of around 10 seconds, played back at 25 or 30 fps. When you select a scene mode, the optimal shooting interval for the subject is automatically set².

Always stable

Capture sharp photos and videos, even when shooting handheld at telephoto distances or in low light. Nikon's Dual Detection Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) system lets you shoot at shutter speeds up to five stops slower than without VR³. VR in Active mode provides a more stable image in the viewfinder and on the screen - useful when you're on the move.

Do not deviate from the object.

The side zoom control allows you to extend the lens with your thumb. Simply press the zoom button with preview function and the lens will instantly retract to a wider angle - useful for capturing subjects that are disappearing from the frame.

Be prepared.

The full-size flash mount makes it easy to attach Nikon accessories such as Speedlights. You can also try Nikon's DF-M1 Collimator Sight: this foldable sight helps you track even fast-flying birds and ensure they stay in the center of the frame.

Capture anything

Birdwatching mode allows you to select three different AF areas to keep fast-moving subjects in focus. 'Moon' mode optimises camera settings for clear astronomical images - perfect for capturing all phases of the moon.

SnapBridge for iOS and Android keeps the COOLPIX P950 connected to your smart device. Share your photos. Track your journeys using your smartphone's GPS, which SnapBridge uses to update your date and location. The SnapBridge app also lets you adjust the camera's zoom and release the shutter from your smart device.
