The second generation of a completely updated high-speed standard zoom lens.

• Updated optics provide higher resolution and improved sharpness compared to the previous generation model, and the focusing system has been replaced with a VXD (Voice Coil Torque Drive) mechanism, which provides faster and more precise operation, suitable for both stills and video.


• As the second generation of this popular lens, this updated version also features an improved exterior lens design, a shorter minimum focusing distance of 7.1 inches, and a new connector port designed to simplify working with the Tamron Lens Utility software to adjust lens settings.


• A versatile standard zoom designed for full-frame mirrorless Sony E-mount cameras, but can also be used with APS-C models, where it will provide a 42-112.5mm equivalent focal length range.


• The bright constant f/2.8 maximum aperture ensures consistent illumination throughout the zoom range and allows for better control over depth of field when working with selective focus techniques.


• Improved optical design increases resolution and improves image performance.


• The VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism ensures fast, quiet and accurate autofocus throughout the entire zoom range.


• A minimum focusing distance of just 7.1 inches and a maximum magnification of 1:2.7 for working with close-up subjects.


• Updated ergonomic design for better control.


• The connector port works with the Tamron Lens Utility software to customize lens functions and update firmware through the lens, rather than through the camera.
