Sony FE PZ 16-35mm F4 G (Black) | (SELP1635G)
Built for developersWith a compact design, excellent optics and a powerful zoom, the Sony PZ 16-35mm f/4 G is an ideal choice for all types of creators, whether that means shooting video, stills or both. This ultra-wide lens is one of the lightest in its class, and its constant f/4 aperture provides the ideal balance of being bright enough for low-light shooting and carrying around for all-day shooting.
Optimized for videos
This lens's key features, perfect for content creators, are ideal for video applications, including Power Zoom, suppressed focus breathing and universal focus control, as well as a well-balanced design that works great when mounted on a gimbal or drone or when used handheld. The electronically controlled Power Zoom mechanism allows for smooth zooming while shooting, controlled via the lens barrel or from select camera bodies. Power Zoom can be used in conjunction with Sony's Clear Image Zoom function, which can further increase the effective reach by up to 2x while maintaining near-original image quality. If the lens's zoom speed is set to Slow and the zoom is controlled remotely from the camera body, the zoom will be smooth from optical zoom to clear image zoom.
The Power Zoom mechanism uses four XD linear motors for precise, fast and quiet zooming. Internal zoom and internal focusing maintain the overall length of the lens during operation. The aperture ring can be removed for smooth, quiet and fluid iris switching during recording. Smooth Motion Optics (SMO) suppresses focus breathing to help maintain compositional accuracy when changing focus. This lens is also compatible with the Breath Compensation function on select Alpha cameras. Optical Design
The wide-angle zoom design covers both the ultra-wide and standard wide focal lengths, while a constant f/4 maximum aperture ensures consistency and a solid balance between sharpness and compact design. Two advanced aspherical (AA) elements and one aspherical element help achieve high sharpness and suppress distortion and spherical aberration. Super ED and ED elements ensure greater clarity and color accuracy by reducing chromatic aberrations. One ED aspherical element further contributes to impressive image quality by correcting various aberrations. Special attention has been paid to achieving consistent and sharp performance throughout the zoom and focus ranges for maximum versatility. A rounded seven-blade diaphragm ensures smooth bokeh. Versatile focusing performance
The XD Linear Motor system uses two separate motors to deliver fast, quiet and precise autofocus and tracking. This design also contributes to a more natural, intuitive linear response manual focus control, and there is an AF/MF switch on the lens barrel for quick focus mode switching.
The internal focusing design ensures faster focusing and maintains a constant overall lens length during operation. Suitable for close-up photography, the minimum focusing distance is 11 inches at 16mm and 9.4 inches at 35mm, with a maximum magnification of 0.23x. Portable design, intuitive operation
As a G lens, this 16-35mm f/4 lens prioritizes compactness and features a lightweight design, while maintaining impressive optical performance and a notable constant maximum aperture of f/4. The lens is also weather-sealed and has an intuitive design for easy operation, making it a versatile wide-angle lens for hybrid photographers and content creators.
The impressively lightweight and sleek design is suitable for everyday handheld use and ideal for travel. The dust and moisture resistant design suits for use in adverse conditions, and the front element is also coated with a fluorine coating to protect against dust, oil and fingerprints, as well as making the front element easy to clean. Integrated 'Power Zoom' control on the lens barrel for easy adjustment of focal length. When used with select 'Sony' cameras, 'Power Zoom' can also be operated using the camera's controls. The intuitive design includes separate aperture/iris, focus and zoom rings for sensitive and natural adjustments.
