Refined focusing performance
The Linear Motor system uses two separate motors to ensure fast, quiet and precise autofocus and tracking. This design also contributes to a more natural, intuitive linear response manual focus control, and there is an AF/MF switch on the lens barrel for quick focus mode switching.

The internal focus design ensures faster focusing and maintains a constant overall lens length during operation.
Suitable for close-up photography, the minimum focusing distance is 6.7 inches with 0.15x maximum magnification, kai using manual focus, or 7.9 inches with 0.12x magnification, kai using autofocus.
Smooth Motion Optics (SMO) suppresses focus breathing to help maintain compositional accuracy when changing focus. This lens is also compatible with the breathing compensation function on select Alpha cameras.
