While full-time manual focus is available, this lens features a stepping motor that delivers smooth, fast autofocus, which is exceptionally quiet both when using features such as face/eye detection AF and when shooting movies. A rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to smooth bokeh, while a lens hood can protect the front element and prevent stray light from causing flare.
