The flexible focal length, 35mm f/2 DG DN modern Sigma lens is a sleek wide-angle, sharp design. The standard wide field of view is useful for a variety of subject types, including landscape, street and reportage photography, while the f/2 maximum aperture is great for tricky lighting and allows for greater control over depth of field. In terms of optical design, three aspherical elements and one SLD element are used to reduce various aberrations and distortions for sharp and precise images. In addition, Super Multi-Layer Coating helps control ghosting and flare for improved color accuracy and contrast.

In terms of control and focusing, this lens features a stepping motor for fast and quiet AF performance, suitable for both stills and video applications. Like the I-series lenses, this lens also features a manual aperture ring and a full metal barrel taper for a more tactile feel. There's also a rounded nine-blade diaphragm for smooth bokeh, and the lens body is also weather-sealed for use in harsh conditions.
