Featuring the f/1.2's ultra-fast maximum aperture, excellent subject isolation, and pleasing color rendition, this revision also updates the optical formula with the addition of aspherical elements to the focus group, a significantly improved 1.6-inch focusing distance, and an 11-blade circular aperture diaphragm for improved bokeh.

The optical design uses both aspherical and extra-low dispersion elements to help reduce various aberrations, color fringing, and distortion for high brightness and clarity. A Super EBC coating is also used to reduce flare and ghosting to improve contrast and color accuracy in bright and backlit conditions. A rounded eleven-blade diaphragm ensures smooth and pleasing out-of-focus highlights. This all-metal lens uses nine rubber seals to protect against dust and moisture, and also maintains full functionality down to temperatures as low as 14°F. Its optical construction consists of 13 elements in eight groups, including one ED and two aspherical elements. The eight elements used in the focus group adopt high-refraction technology from FUJINON Cinema Lenses to reduce chromatic, spherical and comic aberrations. This helps reduce light leakage in bright spots, improving image quality and enhancing subject details.

The ultra-bright f/1.2 maximum aperture is perfect for low light situations and allows for excellent control over depth of field when using selective focus techniques.

Super EBC coating has been applied to individual elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy when working in bright light.

The rounded eleven-blade diaphragm provides a pleasant out-of-focus quality to facilitate selective focus and shallow depth-of-field techniques.
