Apodization filter creates more creative portraits
The FUJINON LENS XF56mmF1.2 R APD offers excellent sharpness levels even when shooting with the F1.2 aperture. In addition, the apodization filter smooths out the contours of the bokeh. This combination of image sharpness and beautiful bokeh gives portraits a three-dimensional feel.
An optical construction consisting of 11 glass elements arranged in 8 groups is employed, including one aspherical glass lens element and two extra-low dispersion lens elements. Spherical aberrations are corrected by the aspherical glass element to ensure high resolution at maximum aperture. In addition, the combination of two extra-low dispersion lens elements and three cemented lens elements greatly reduces chromatic aberrations.
By using a unique Fujifilm HT-EBC (high-transmission electron beam coating) on all lens surfaces, ghosting and flare are controlled for sharp and clear results.
In addition, the lens makes full use of the unique Fujifilm X-Trans™*1 CMOS sensor without low-pass filters to achieve extremely high image quality. Image and flash control are maintained even in harsh conditions such as backlighting.

High assembly quality and convenient operation
The apodization filter provides the best results at wider apertures. To enable wide apertures to be used even in bright environments, there is an ND filter that adjusts the brightness in three levels. To demonstrate the apodization effect, the lens has an aperture ring that displays the effective F-number in red. The difference between the F-number and the effective F-number indicates the effectiveness of the apodization filter.
Both the focus and aperture rings are made of metal, and metal is also used on the exterior of the lens barrel for a high-quality finish. The rings' texture and torque allow for comfortable shooting even during delicate manual focusing.
