"Canon" has developed blue-refractive optical equipment (BR) to limit fringe coloration in large-diameter lenses. Specially designed optical materials correct fringe coloration more effectively than other technologies such as fluorite, extra-low dispersion (UD) or "Super UD" glass. Flare coloration is caused by chromatic aberration - a phenomenon in which kai different colors of light are focused at different points.
