Long before trees were used as pulp and fiber to bind our stories, they were guardians of stories of a different kind. As legend and the druids tell, there are places on the planet where the veil between worlds is thin, and trees were the guardians of these sacred spaces. During that age, if you were lucky, a door called a duirwaigh might open in the trunk of a tree - a portal between magical worlds. The contents of this oracle were entrusted to me by a tree keeper in Lapland who guarded ancient groves. The tree keeper gave me a book as a legacy.
