This Nepali incense cord is made from herbs found in the high Himalayas. It is extracted from white and red sandalwood, licorice, spikenard, cinnamon and cloves. This incense is widely used in stupas, temples and lounges to create an aromatic environment. Himalayan cedar is extracted from the wood of the cedar tree that grows in the Himalayan regions of Nepal. In Nepal, this Himalayan cedar is called Dhup, which is mostly used for incense in homes or stupas and temples. This type of Dhup is typical of the Newar community and is used in almost every Newar home. This Himalayan cedar is handmade, which is why it is also called Newa Dhup in the Newar culture.
