Using machine learning and thousands of real-world images, we’ve trained the EOS R3 to accurately and confidently identify people, animals and vehicles wherever they move. People can be tracked even if they’re wearing a face mask with a helmet or sunglasses. In motorsports photography, the EOS R3 can identify motorcycles and racing cars, and even distinguish between closed and open cockpits, accurately detecting the driver’s helmet (if visible).

Merging video still photos

The EOS R3 is a professional hybrid capable of capturing cinematic, broadcast-quality video and stunning stills. It’s packed with features that take operators to new levels of creativity, and can record oversampled 4K or 6K RAW video in-camera or to a CFexpress card. Canon Log 3 offers wider dynamic range and greater colour grading capabilities. And best of all, the same subject recognition features that photographers can use are available for video, so you can track moving subjects throughout the frame, ensuring they always stay sharp.

For sports and news photographers, connectivity is essential. The EOS R3 uses a wired LAN port and 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi to connect to computer networks, laptops and mobile devices for quick and easy image sharing and remote camera control. The EOS R3 is also compatible with our Mobile File Transfer app, which allows professional photographers to add metadata and transfer images from a smartphone via Wi-Fi or mobile device data. The EOS R3 also features a new multi-function accessory that provides data transfer and power for new accessories, as well as acting as a Speedlite flash and trigger attachment.

Your EF lenses will work exactly as they should thanks to a range of high-quality mount adapters, which also provide additional features such as a control ring or drop-in filters. With intuitive controls and ergonomic operation, the EOS R3 is the result of three decades of evolution, constantly designed with the requirements of professional photographers in mind. Responsive customizable controls

The EOS R3 is designed for professionals. Its shape is inspired by the EOS-1DX series, but it's smaller and lighter, incorporating the EOS R system's mirrorless design principles for superior control. The camera has a variety of controls, with the Multi-Controller and Smart Control instinctively within reach of your thumb. Using three customisable dials on the camera body and a lens control ring on each RF-mount lens, you can adjust shutter speed, aperture, ISO and exposure compensation without taking your eye off the viewfinder. The EOS R3 also features a high-resolution 4 million-dot vari-angle screen that's bright and clear even in bright conditions. It's easy to combine creative perspectives. Two card slots allow you to record images and video to widely available SD cards (supporting UHS-II) or the super-fast next-generation 'CFexpress' media.

Use the electronic shutter with the flash

To make it easier to balance daylight and flash even in bright conditions or when capturing the head of fast-moving subjects, flash sync is now available using the camera's electronic shutter - both with Canon Speedlites and third-party studio flashes.
