Four-stop image stabilizer The EF 70–200xa0mm f/4L IS USM lens features a four-stop Image Stabilizer (IS), making it an ideal choice for handheld photography. Shutter speeds up to four stops slower than would otherwise be possible can be used without a noticeable increase in image blur. By panning the camera horizontally, the IS system can be set to correct only unwanted vertical shake.

Lightweight and compact design

Fixed aperture

The maximum f/4 chart can be used with all focal lengths, so the exposure value does not change when the lens zooms. Fluorite and Ultra-Low Dispersion (UD) lens elements

The lens uses one fluorite element and two UD (extra-low dispersion) elements to suppress secondary chromatic aberrations, resulting in clear, high-contrast images free from distortion and false colors.

Ultrasonic focusing A ring-type ultrasonic motor drives autofocus extremely quickly and almost silently. The excellent rotary control rings ensure that the focus point is reached precisely without overexposure. In addition, the full-time manual override allows focus to be adjusted without leaving AF mode.

Super Spectra coating Super Spectra coating ensures accurate color balance and enhances contrast. It also reduces flare and ghosting – a common problem caused by light reflecting off the camera sensor. Smooth background blur The nearly circular aperture gives out-of-focus areas more softness and integrity, making sharp foreground subjects stand out against a smoothly blurred background.
