The Gaussian optical system, combined with two high-refractive lens elements, allows photographers in all fields to achieve clear, clean images even when the aperture is opened up to f/1.4. This lens is ideal for landscapes and travel photography, as well as portraits and reportage.  

Ultrasonic focusing

The ultrasonic motor autofocuses extremely quickly and almost silently. The excellent rotary control rings ensure that the focus point is reached precisely without overexposure. In addition, manual override is always available, so focus can be adjusted even in AF mode.

The nearly circular aperture gives out-of-focus areas more softness and integrity, making sharp foreground subjects stand out against a smoothly blurred background.
