Fast aperture prime lens The EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM has a large maximum aperture of f/1.4, making it ideal for handheld shooting in low light. This large aperture limits depth of field even at such a short focal length. The annular aperture blades allow for smooth out-of-focus bokeh.

Aspherical and UD elements For optimal optical performance, the lens employs two types of special elements: aspherical elements to correct spherical aberration, and Super UD (extra-low dispersion) elements to eliminate chromatic aberration. This results in clear, high-contrast images that are free from distortion anywhere in the frame.

Sub-wavelength structured lens coating Canon's patented lens element coating reduces ghosting and flare caused by internal lens reflections, helping the EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM produce clear, sharp images. Ultrasonic focusing A ring-type ultrasonic motor drives autofocus extremely quickly and almost silently. The excellent rotary control rings ensure that the focus point is reached precisely without overexposure.
