Fixed f/4 aperture

The maximum aperture of f/4 is great for use in a variety of lighting conditions, as it remains constant throughout the focal length range, so the shutter speed or ISO number does not change when zooming in.  

Sharp images with 4-stop image stabilizer

The EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM ensures stable images in any situation, and is particularly useful when shooting handheld in low light or in macro mode. The lens features Canon's four-stop Image Stabilizer technology, which automatically detects normal movement when shooting or panning, and switches to the optimal image stabilization mode for the situation.  

Ultrasonic focusing

A ring-type ultrasonic motor drives autofocus extremely quickly and almost silently. The fine-tuning adjustment rings ensure that the focus point is reached precisely without overexposure. Full manual control allows for precise focus adjustments without switching off autofocus mode.  

Smooth background blur

The 9-blade annular diaphragm provides a soft, even blur to out-of-focus areas, so the main subjects in your photos will stand out clearly against a beautiful, smooth blurred background.  

Highest image quality

The EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM uses three aspherical elements to ensure sharpness and clarity throughout the entire focusing range. Two UD (Extra-low Dispersion) elements virtually eliminate color aberrations. A Super Spectra coating ensures accurate color balance and enhances contrast. Flares and ghosting, a common problem caused by light reflected from the camera sensor, are also reduced. A fluorine coating prevents dust and water particles from adhering to the front and rear lens elements, ensuring optimal image quality.  

0.28m minimum focusing distance

With a focusing distance of just 0.28m throughout the zoom range, you can get close to your subjects and still enjoy a wide field of view.
